LOGISTIC HERITAGE

Maritime details can be found in unexpected places.

Reederei Bernhard Schulte  //  Right on the harbour’s edge, a family-owned shipping company built their new headquarters office. Maritime details can be found in unexpected places: A window in the elevator cabin shows a plimsoll line on the lift shaft wall, the blue mosaic floor in the cafeteria reminds of a nautical chart. While many shipping firms display models of vessels in their lobbies, this fleet is presented in a unique way: a long-stretched display case runs like a horizon from the lobby to the cafeteria. A large wooden sculpture above the reception desk looks like an art installation at first glance, but contains thousands of LED lights.

A closer look reveals a world map that is linked to real-time GPS tracking technology sharing the current position of their ships. This installation displays the company’s values, the combination of tradition and technology.
